Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) is a premier educational institution established by the Government of India which was established in 1986 under the National Education Policy. The aim of these schools is to provide quality modern education to talented children from rural areas. JNVs are residential schools based on co-education system where children are provided free education, food and other necessary facilities. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) is conducted for admission to class VI in JNV. The medium of instruction in the schools is mother tongue or regional language and later English for science and mathematics and Hindi for social sciences. The main objective of the JNV system is to promote national integration and make students experience different cultures.
