The NVS has an administrative structure that centralises the power and assigns hierarchal positions all through all the levels in order to manage and administer the Network Schools. The overall coordination and policy formulation function at the helm of the country’s school education is performed by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. NVS is headed by the Commissioner, who manages its operations and sets the course of its development at the same time. Reporting directly to the Commissioner is the Joint Commissioners who are responsible for special sectors namely; administrative, Accountancy and Finance, Academic and Human Resource.

Reporting to the Joint Commissioners are the Regional Directors of a specific region in the country of India. The Regional Directors are responsible for the affairs of the NVS schools in the regions they oversee. In each of the NVS schools, the Principal is the head of the School and is charged with management of academic and administrative affairs of the school. The teaching and administrative staff of the NVS schools such as the teachers, counsellors and support staff are the mainstay of the schools that makes efforts to provide quality education and streamline the administration of the school. NVS is one of the prominent examples of the hierarchical structure that ensures the proper organization of management tasks and responsibilities, and allows fulfilling the organization’s mission of providing talented rural children with an opportunity to receive quality education.
