In a more unusual backdrop of North America specifically in 2003, responded this 15th century Indian Mystical poet from North India, Kabir through the music performance over the Malwi folk singer Prahlad Tipanya & his troupe. This unusual journey was captured in the film – Ajab Shahar: These songs of Kabir with the story – Kabir in America – in which these songs are interspersed with the moments of the Indian folk artists who discover the culture of North America.

Kabir specializes in folk singers of India where Prahlad Singh Tipanya is one of a popular face and well-known singers in the country. Prahladji is a school teacher by profession and his life changed at its core and soul when he heard first time the sound of tambura – the five string folk instrument. That opened the doorway to Kabir for him and since then he has been relentlessly spreading the magic of Kabir to the millions of rural, urban and international audiences for the past more than three decades. Now in Madhya Pradesh, in his home village of Luniyakhedi, many have come looking for him, as a representative of Kabir. With the help of his son named Ajay Tipanya, Prahladji arranges the colourful Malwa Kabir Yatra every year, where many singers come together and travel along seekers in the village of the region in a travelling festival form.
