सात समुद्र की मसि करूँ : सातों समुद्र के पानी को स्याही (मसि ) बना लूँ।
गुरु गुण लिखा न जाय : गुरु का गुण लिखा ना जाय।

दोहे का हिंदी मीनिंग / भावार्थ : गुरु की महिमा अपार है। धरती के सभी कागजों को एकत्रित करके, वन में उपलब्ध सभी वृक्षों की लकड़ी को एकत्रित करके और सातों समुद्रों के पानी की स्याही बना ली जाय तब भी वे कागज, लेखनी और स्याही कम पड़ेगी गुरु महिमा को लिखने की, यह महिमा है गुरु की। इस दोहे में साहेब ने बताया है की गुरु की महिमा कितनी अधिक है। गुरु की महिमा का वर्णन शब्दों में करना मुश्किल है। व्यक्ति जीवन में तमाम उम्र भर माया के भंवर जाल में उलझा रहता है।माया क्या है और माया का भ्रम क्या होता है ? यह कैसे पता चले ? वस्तुतः इसी का बोध साहिब की वाणी से होता है की जीवन में गुरु का क्या महत्त्व होता है। गुरु जगाने वाला है, गुरु ही चित्त की चेतना को पैदा करता है और सद्मार्ग की और अग्रसर करता है।वर्तमान समय में कुछ लोगों ने गुरु के कार्य को उद्योग बना लिया है जिनका मूल उद्देश्य माया का ही अर्जन है। सद्गुरु के अभाव में समाज में अपराध और अनैतिक कार्य बढ़ते जा रहे हैं। जो गुरु बने बैठे हैं उनका चयन भी बहुत मुश्किल है।

एक बात बहुत ही महत्वपूर्ण है की कबीर साहेब ने जैसे गुरु की महिमा का वर्णन किया है वैसे ही गुरु की पहचान के विषय में भी बहुत कुछ बताया है। एक पहचान जो कबीर साहेब बताते हैं की गुरु भाव का भूखा होता है, माया का नहीं। यदि कोई माया में रूचि रखता है तो वह छद्म गुरु है जो खुद अँधा है वो अपने चेले को भी अँधा कर देता है।
