कबीर साहेब इस दोहे में समस्त ब्रह्मांड में दो आदिकाल से चल रही शक्तियों का वर्णन करते हैं की उन्होंने इन शक्तियों को प्रथम रूप में "ज्ञानस्वरूप चैतन्य सत्ता" कहा, जिसे उन्होंने परमात्मा की शक्ति के रूप में समझा। यह शक्ति ध्वन्यात्मक कला से परिपूर्ण है और ज्योतियों की ज्योति भी उसे ही कहते हैं। कबीर ने एक "नारी रूपा माया प्रकृति" का वर्णन किया। इसमें प्रथम शक्ति यानी ज्ञानस्वरूप चैतन्य सत्ता छिपी होती है, जिसे उन्होंने चिति स्वरूप से जाना। यह सभी के भीतर होती है और इसे "अमृत उपनिषद्" में शब्द के रूप में "ओंकार" नाम से जाना जाता है। यही चैतन्य सत्ता अखिल ब्रह्मांड का संचालन करने वाली परम सत्ता है।

इन दो शक्तियों के बीच, कबीर ने चित-अचिति अन्तर ज्योति के संयोग से तीन प्राथमिक देवताओं, ब्रह्मा, विष्णु और महेश, का उत्पन्न होने का वर्णन किया। इन तीनों देवताओं ने समस्त विश्व में अनेक स्त्री-पुरुषों की रचना की, लेकिन उन्होंने उस परमपुरुष का आदि और अन्त नहीं जान सके। इसलिए वे वेदों में उस परम सत्ता को सीमातीत बताने में असमर्थ रहे।
