‘Argala Stotram’ is song dedicated to a form of mother goddess, to whom is referred as Devi or Durga. It is a hymn from the Durga Saptashati which is chapter seven in the markandeya Purana.It is to be noted that Durga Saptashati is a combination of seven hundred verses in praise of Devi. Argala Stotram precedes Hadaka Kumarivandane which is a part of Durga Saptashati or Devi Mahatmya. While interpreting the word “Argala” it means “obstacles” The hymn is sung to the tune of Devi to ward off all the barriers in ones path. There are 21 stanzas in the hymn which speaks about the different aspects of the Devi along with her qualities. Argala Stotram is also thought that it has the power to shower blessings and remove all forms of hindrances in one’s life if chanted devotedly and sincerely.

Removal of obstacles: The hymn starts by calling upon the Goddess as the one who destroys the barriers to ones success. It is effective to pray the stotram to eradicate all the barriers that one could be experiencing in his or her life.
Blessings and grace: It is an appropriate hymn which describes the different aspects and forms of Mother Goddess, and chanting of this hymn can bestow the divine blessings of the deity.
Spiritual growth: Argala Stotram is considered to be very effective in the practise of spiritual transformation. In this sense it is considered that by chanting the stotram in harmonic intentions one is able to improve ones spiritual journey.
Protection and safety: In the hymn there are many words and phrases that refer to the protection provided by the Goddess and to the elimination of danger and evil. Still, it is perceived that uttering the stotram would help in gaining protection or safety to the person who recites it.
